The Family Recovery Program, Inc. Graduation Ceremony
It is that time of year to celebrate a milestone in the lives of our clients. On Friday, June 11, 2021, we celebrated 6 graduates that completed our intensive program which provided them the opportunity to gain valuable skills that will help them in the care of their families. Our Graduates have been successful in completing parenting programs, housing stability, and have managed testing negative for their drug tests for the duration of their time at FRP. What an accomplishment! We were honored to have a representative from Councilman Antonio Glover’s office to deliver an inspiring message to our graduates, Mr. Jamaal Simpson. In addition to our many guests, it is always a pleasure to have the Honorable Judge Robert B. Kershaw, of the Baltimore City Circuit Court, Juvenile Division. We are so proud of our graduates of this quarter, and we are looking forward to seeing them thrive and lead successful lives for themselves and their families. Congratulations Graduates!

Black Girls Vote at the Sage Center
Voting is not only a right it is a must for our families. They believe in our democracy and enjoy supporting it. On May 26, ladies from Black Girls Vote visited the Sage Center and educated all of the residents on the importance of voting, and for those who weren’t signed up-signed them up. Other opportunities were available during the evening as some parents learned more about becoming a parent Mentor. The kids and parents had fun playing musical chairs and eating food prepared by our food truck partner-No One Goes Hungry.

A great big thanks goes to Ms. Wendi Lott and her friends for making our tennis shoe drive a success. Ms. Lott invited her friends from all over the region to come and donate gently used tennis shoes. The shoes were amazing. Most were new and in boxes. All sizes were donated for kids and parents both. When the tennis shoe drive was done Ms. Lott had collected over 350 pairs of tennis shoes. The families remarked feeling loved and appreciated. The shoes looked great on everyone!

Every woman wants to be a queen. We need help sometimes getting to that point. The ladies of the Sage Center were celebrated as Queens for a day by the ladies of the Baltimore Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The ladies were escorted in on theme music and paraded down a red carpet. After that they were given queen sashes and tiara’s. They were treated to a wonderful dinner and then a very informative presentation by an employee of MAC makeup. The kids were entertained by daycare staff so that the mom’s could enjoy the evening uninterrupted. All in attendance received a self-care bag and goodies they could carry to their (retreats) apartments! All in attendance enjoyed the evening!
Sage Center Award Ceremony
The Sage Center staff took time to celebrate some milestones that our parents have achieved since being a part of our program. The awards were given to parents celebrating 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 18 months of sobriety. We are pleased to announce that one of our parents, Mr. Moses celebrated 3 years of sobriety. Next up were parents that have been reunified with their children and celebrating personal Improvement.
We are so proud of our parents and their accomplishments they have achieved here at The Sage Center. We fully support their ability to reach their goals and look forward to seeing them reach them all!
Congratulations parents! Keep up the Great work!

On May 3, Tiffinee Scott, friend of Sage Center, stopped by our Rose Street Location with the “No One Goes Hungry” Food Truck. They had food for over 60 people to give away. Our parents and staff lined up in the parking lot and grabbed some delicious Vegan dishes:
Vegan Chicken and Rice & Vegan Peach Cobbler
Thanks again to Tiffinee Scott and her team for stopping by Sage Center to provide some healthy and fabulous dishes! Looking forward to seeing them soon.

On a blistery morning in April, Earth Day was celebrated at the Sage Center. Parents, children and staff all gathered to clean out the old, winterized soil and add new organic soil to bring a slice of sunshine to the community. Our planter boxes were renewed and refreshed. Our vegetable garden will soon have purple kale, lettuce, and beefsteak tomatoes. Many of those in attendance had never experienced the beauty of playing in the dirt, planting plants, and being a part of Earth Day.
A great time was had by all!

Sage Center Vision Board Activity
On January 28th, 2021 the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta hosted a virtual vision board activity for the families of the Sage Center. The families worked on cutting motivating phrases from magazines to capture on their boards. While the parents did their boards the children made mosaics for Valentine’s Day. Many of the parents found positive ways to describe their goals and plans for the year. After eating dinner, families were called to the Zoom screen to share their work. Statements shared showed both insight and hope. The parents expressed their gratitude toward the sorority sisters sharing their time and resources. A good time was had by all.
Young Executives in the Making
When the Boss is away the Children will play. This is what can go on in the office of Dr. Gainers, Executive Director of The Family Recovery Program when she works from home.
Sage Center Entrepreneur on the Rise!
Hard work knows no bounds. Sage Center resident Nikki M. is an entrepreneur. While caring for her family, Ms. Miller shared her talent for creating beauty and used her skills most recently to create Valentine’s baskets which she plans on offering for sale. One of her dreams is to offer her wares in a local market. The beauty she creates for others is the same beauty she exudes within her personality every day. She is an active participant in the community, always with a kind word or deed. We salute her efforts and support her in becoming a benefit to herself and the community. Go Nikki!
