The Family Recovery Program Hosts Informative CINA Training for Staff
The Family Recovery Program (FRP) would like to extend a sincere thank you to Attorney Haley Lichterman, Deputy Chief of the Parental Defense Division at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, for visiting our team and providing an informative training on Child in Need of Assistance (CINA).
The training brought together FRP case managers, peer recovery specialists, and administrative staff to strengthen their understanding of the CINA process and its role in supporting children and families involved in the child welfare system.
CINA, which stands for Child in Need of Assistance, refers to a legal process in Maryland involving children who require court intervention and protection because they may not be receiving the care or attention needed for their safety and well-being. Understanding this process is especially important for professionals who work closely with parents and children navigating family court, child welfare services, and reunification efforts.
Attorney Lichterman shared valuable information and insight to help our team better understand the legal framework surrounding CINA cases and the importance of collaboration among the professionals involved in supporting families. Opportunities like this allow our staff to expand their knowledge, strengthen communication, and gain a deeper understanding of the systems that affect the families we serve.
At The Family Recovery Program, we recognize that supporting families requires a team approach. Our work involves partnering with parents as they address substance use disorders, engage in treatment and recovery, and work toward safe and healthy reunification with their children. Building our staff’s knowledge of the legal and child welfare systems helps us better understand the challenges families may face and how we can support them throughout their journey.
We are grateful to Attorney Haley Lichterman for sharing her expertise and taking the time to invest in our team’s continued learning and professional development. We also appreciate the dedication of our staff as they continue to build their knowledge and strengthen their ability to serve the families of Baltimore City.
Thank you, Attorney Lichterman, for helping us continue our mission of supporting parents, strengthening families, and creating brighter futures for children.
