Staff Training and Retreats

September has kept our staff busy! We’ve conducted trainings and retreats for our staff’s professional development here at FRP. Dr. Gainers conducted a presentation entitled, “The Language of Recovery: Language Matters”-Understanding how the language we use impacts our community. The training session helped our staff compare common terminology and assess which terms should be used or avoided, and how to integrate person-first, non-stigmatizing language into everyday practice.
